So much for paying attention. As you can see below, the sign is for a photographer and not an optometrist. Both relate to optics and light refraction, I guess. At any rate, a nicely hand painted sign from c. 1890 that is, I would argue, an interesting object to view. Is it art? Discuss.
I LOVE this story… So this photographer hears about this boy with muscular dystrophy. The young boy Luka dreams of playing basketball and skateboarding but, due to his condition, cannot. So the photographer, Matej Peljhan, puts together a photo shoot that allows young Luka to perform these “action” shots while lying on the ground and Matej photographs him from above. More here.

From 2007 in the Market. And this was done with my Olympus E-410. I am still tracking down images from my 2.1 megapixel camera so technically not my first photo taken with a digital camera.
I was at the airport leaving for Vancouver (2007, I think) and I had seen the technique done with a tilt-shift lens and I tried to emulate the effect in Photoshop.
That is as far outside as I am prepared to go.
